The Paxton centre based in Crystal Palace is a community hub, gallery and shop that supports local artists, designers and makers.
The centre is run by Beth who is very friendly and welcoming. I came across a post on the Facebook page that was asking for volunteers to help in the afternoons and I thought it would be a great opportunity to see what is happening in the art world and network with other creative types.
Each month there is new artists showing their work which means there are new pieces to see and purchase. As you can see from above February is very busy with workshops, jazz performances and a fun quiz night.
These are just a few of the items on sale so if you are on the lookout for a quirky gift or want to brighten up a dull area then you can definitely find something suitable, or you can always make your own at one of the workshops on offer!
Pop in for a coffee or something to eat (they now have a café menu that features lunch meals, salads and cakes) and if you come in this Monday you get the added bonus of seeing me!
Do you have an interesting creative space near you?
I love the idea of this. Such a great way to learn new skills as well as have fun! Also like that you can purchase quirky items from local artists too. We have a pottery barn near us which we frequently visit. They offer both pottery painting and decopatch workshops as well as local artists and haberdashery business creations from*+ their gift store #KCACOLS

Sometimes they are not so greatly advertised, I didn’t know about the paxton until I came across it on social media even though it’s not far from where I live.

Love the set up and feel of the place!! We have an old school down the road from us that they are calling the hub and turning into something similar. It hosts lots of community events and they’ve put in a cafe and pottery studio. Love the idea of featuring local artists!!!

Yes and also somewhere to encourage those budding artists that just don’t realise their talent yet 😊
